Due to popular demand we have convinced our Managers and their teams to part with their Top Secret home baking recipes (believe us this wasn't easy!). Over the next few months we will be posting your favourite recipes, so you can try to recreate them in the comfort of your own home.
Keep your eyes peeled for regular updates and if you don't see your favourite please email office@philpotts.co.uk noting your nearest Shop and your favourite home baked treat and we'll try our best to get the creator to part with their recipe and perhaps pass on some of their tips too!
Another one of our wonderful home bakers is Di in our City Tower Shop. We have convinced her to part with the recipe for her fantastic Chocolate Cake. If you are ever in Manchester drop into City Tower and taste for yourself her fabulous range of homebaking.
Chocolate Cake
Recipe
175g Butter (Softened)
175g Sugar
160g Self Raising Flour
3 Medium Eggs
1tsp Baking Powder
1/2 tsp Vanilla Extract
25g Cocoa Powder
Method
Place the Butter, Sugar and Vanilla Extract in a bowl and whisk for 4-5 minutes, until light and fluffy.
Add the Eggs, one at a time to prevent the mixture from spliting and beat.
Sieve the Flour, Baking Powder and Cocoa over the mxture and carefully fold together.
Pour into a lined baking tin and level.
Bake in the oven for 30 -35 minutes.
Remove and allow to cool.
Finish with a dusting of Icing Sugar or with Icing of your choice.
